# Budget Files for Funding Applications

## ⚠️ Important: Budget Variants by Program

**Different funding programs have different funding limits.** We have created budget variants to match each program's constraints:

- **MVP Foundation:** €400k (3-6 months) - For DBU, small initial grants
- **MVP+:** €900k (6-9 months) - For ZIM (€690k max at 60% rate)
- **Full Program:** €2.5M (18 months) - For EIC Accelerator, LIFE Programme

Excel-ready CSV file with budget breakdown by category and phase. Open in Excel for:

Excel-ready CSV file with budget by work package and deliverables. Includes:
- Work package descriptions
- Deliverables alignment
- Phase allocation
- Detailed descriptions

Excel-ready CSV file with detailed personnel costs. Includes:
- Position details
- Salary information
- Monthly rates
- Phase-by-phase allocation
- Role descriptions

- **MVP Foundation (€400k)** - For DBU, small initial grants
- **MVP+ (€900k)** - For ZIM (€690k max at 60% rate)

## How to Use for Funding Applications

### For EIC Accelerator (€2.5M grant):
1. **Use:** `budget_by_category.csv` (Full Program - €2.5M)
2. **Grant Request:** €2.5M (matches exactly)
3. **Equity Component:** Optional up to €15M
4. **Focus:** Breakthrough innovation, TRL 5-8, full 18-month program
5. Emphasize innovation and technical development costs
6. Show clear allocation for breakthrough technology development

### For ZIM (Germany) - €690k max at 60% rate:
1. **Use:** `budget_mvp_plus_900k.csv` (MVP+ - €900k project, €690k grant at 60%)
2. **Grant Request:** €690,000 (60% of €1.15M project)
3. **Own Contribution:** €460,000 (40%)
4. **Berlin Bonus:** +10% possible (up to 70% = €805k grant)
5. **Focus:** R&D component, technical innovation, MVP+ phase (6-9 months)
6. Use `budget_by_workpackage.csv` to show R&D component
7. Emphasize technical innovation work packages
8. Show high technical risk components (graph algorithms, matching engine)

### For DBU Environmental (€125k-€200k):
1. **Use:** `budget_mvp_foundation_400k.csv` (MVP Foundation - €250k-€400k project, €125k-€200k grant at 50%)
2. **Grant Request:** €125k-€200k (50% of €250k-€400k project)
3. **Focus:** Environmental impact, circular economy MVP (3-6 months)
4. Emphasize environmental impact-related costs
5. Highlight domain expert costs (circular economy expertise)
6. Show infrastructure costs related to environmental monitoring

### For Berlin Innovative (Variable loans):
1. **Use:** `budget_mvp_foundation_400k.csv` (smaller) or `budget_mvp_plus_900k.csv` (larger)
2. **Loan Amount:** Variable (70% liability exemption)
3. **Focus:** Innovation/digitization, Berlin location
4. Use simplified version focusing on Berlin location
5. Show innovation-related costs
6. Emphasize digitization components

### For LIFE Programme (€1-10M):
1. **Use:** `budget_by_category.csv` (Full Program - €2.5M) or larger variant
2. **Grant Request:** €1.5M-€2.5M (60% rate) or larger
3. **Priority Areas:** 75-95% co-funding rates available
4. **Focus:** Environmental impact, circular economy, implementation (18-36 months)
5. Use `budget_by_workpackage.csv`
6. Align work packages with environmental objectives
7. Show partnership-related costs
8. Emphasize implementation and scaling costs

## Excel Template Creation

To create Excel file from CSV:

1. **Open CSV in Excel:**
   - Open `budget_by_category.csv` in Excel
   - Excel will automatically format as table
   - Add formatting, formulas, charts as needed

2. **Create Summary Sheet:**
   - Copy totals from CSV
   - Create summary table
   - Add charts for visual representation

3. **Format for Funding Application:**
   - Add headers with project name
   - Format currency columns (EUR)
   - Add percentage calculations
   - Create visual breakdown (pie chart, bar chart)

### From Mathematical Model:
- **Year 1 Costs**: €1,400,000 (from model)
- **Roadmap Budget (18 months)**: €2,500,000
- **Alignment**: Model calculates costs for Year 1, roadmap spans 18 months of seed funding

### Model vs Roadmap:
- **Model Engineering Year 1**: €800,000 (8 engineers × €100k)
- **Roadmap Engineering (18 months)**: €1,610,000 (9 engineers over 18 months)
- **Alignment**: Consistent (roadmap includes team growth)
